Sara Lucretia Welch Peek, age 94, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Alachua, Florida, she was the daughter of the late William Pinkney and Sallie Vance Welch. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wallace William Peek, Sr. who died in 2003; and three brothers, William Pikney, James David and Joseph Vance Welch. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Sara was a great-great-granddaughter of Colonel Robert Love, founder of Waynesville; a great-granddaughter of Colonel Joseph Cathey and Wiliam Welch and other founding fathers of Haywood County. She was a member of the last graduating class of Micanopy High School in 1934. She is survived by a son, Dr. Wallace "Bill" Peek of Canton; a daughter, Kay Rhinehart and her husband, Jerry, of Clyde; two grandchildren, Michael Bret Rhinehart and his wife, Jamie and Todd Rhinehart and his wife, Theresa; seven grandchildren, Holli Rhinehart, Justin and Jorydn Easterling, Hannah, Trinity, Sarah, and Kaleb Rhinehart. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Daniel P. Stiles and Reverend Dr. J. C. Grose, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
