Clyde, Samuel Whip Ferguson, Jr., age 69, of 366 Fines Creek Road, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at MedWest Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Samuel Whip Ferguson, Sr. and Fannie McCracken Ferguson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Best and three brothers, Tom, Henry, and Willie Ferguson. Sammy was a farmer, who enjoyed tinkering on machinery and loved going bear hunting. He was a well known CB radio operator and his handle was "Slave Driver." He attended Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Smith Ferguson; three daughters, Rayna Ferguson of Fletcher, and Renae Ray and Debbie Greene (Todd), both of Clyde; one son, Brody Ferguson, of Clyde; two sisters, Cenie Rogers (Ed) of Clyde and Margaret Daniels (Harrison) of Richmond, Virginia; one brother, Reeves Ferguson (June) of Clyde; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Moore and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to services at the church.
