Sam Turner Iii

Clyde

Clyde – Sam Whitfield Turner III., 79, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Autumn Care of Waynesville.

Sam was a native of Long Branch, New Jersey and a son of the late Sam Whitfield Turner, Jr. and Theresa Wall Turner.  He was preceded in death by a sister, T-Star Turner and was a United States Marine veteran and played in the Marine Marching Band.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Aileen Medford Turner; daughter, Anita Suttles (Jeff) of Hendersonville; three sons, Scott Turner (Tabitha) of Winterville, North Carolina, Bruce Robinson (Julia) of Monroe, and Stephen Robinson (Jill) of Greensboro; two brothers, Jon Turner (Teresa) of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, and Chris Turner (Marsha) of Merrill’s Inlet, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023, at New Covenant Church in Clyde with the Reverend Blake Stanbery officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Covenant Church, 767 Lee Road, Clyde, NC  28721.

The care of Mr. Turner has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
