"Loving Mother and Grandmother"

Waynesville, Ruth Dolly Kinsland Smith, 93, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

Ruth was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, the daughter of the late Otis Garrett and Flora Caldwell Kinsland. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Smith, who died in 1978; her daughter, Helen Johnson; a brother, Garrett Kinsland; and three sisters, Fannie Fugate, Beatrice Turner and Daisy Kinsland. Ruth worked at American Enka Corporation, retiring in 1978. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her pets.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Raymond Smith and his wife, Pat, of Canton and Eugene Smith of Waynesville; two sisters, Louise Nelson and Mazie Gerringer, both of Waynesville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 16, 2018 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Winfred Bennett and Reverend Chad Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at New Bon-A-Venture Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
