Ruth Sherlin

Candler – Ruth Sherlin, 74, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Ruth was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a daughter of the late Ulysses Stonewall and Daisy Ola Keith Warren. She was a 1968 graduate of Enka High School and retired from American Enka/BASF with 34 years of service.  Ruth excelled at making people feel special and loved.  She had a cunning wit and devilish laugh.  Ruth volunteered at Bele Chere and Helpmate along with serving on the board at Enka Lake Club.  She was a tirelessly devoted Mom, wife, daughter and sister.  Along with being a great cook, Ruth was capable of doing anything and everything.  She was beyond loving to friends and family, loved gardening, and took great pride in her flowers.  Ruth was extraordinarily bright and always ready to “pull up her socks” to get things done.  She enjoyed watching westerns with her husband and was a beach lover in the Charleston area.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Sherlin; a daughter, Jaime Sherlin Burrell and husband, Jason; a sister-in-law, Brenda Khuns of Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Jerry “Buck” Warren and Robert Warren, both of Candler; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler with the Reverend Mike Hicks officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
