Ruth Henson

"1923 – 2016" Canton – Ruth Sanford Henson, 93, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late William Crawford and Bertha Thompson Sanford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard John Henson, who died in 2013; two sisters; and three brothers. Ruth was owner and operator of Henson's Florist, along with her husband, for many years and was a member of Canton First Baptist Church. She is survived by three sisters, Peggy Gottibowski of Fairview, Shirley Swanson of Trenton, Georgia, and Brenda Roberts of Rutledge, Tennessee; a brother, Paul Sanford and wife, Kathleen, of Canton; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Dean and Reverend Tony Sanford officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
