Clyde – Ruth Sanderson Ford, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 4, 2023, at Aston Park Health Care Center.
Ruth was a native of Clay County but had resided in Haywood for the majority of her life and was a daughter of the late Omer Harley and Ila Berdine Palmer Sanderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, McConley Ford, who died in 1989; brothers, William, James, Ray, and Lewis; son, Michael Ford; and daughter, Connie Ford Barnett. Ruth was born on June 22, 1927, and graduated from Waynesville High School in 1945. She was a homemaker, a wonderful cook, dedicated to her family, and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Canton.
She is survived by her one daughter, Karen Ford Keener (Gerald); grandchildren, Josh Keener (Jenny), Jesse Keener (Breanna), Joseph Ford (Becky), Melissa Gaster (Terry), and Jamie Robinson (Chad); along with several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Pastor Jake Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow at Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
