Ruth Farmer

Ruth Ethel Poston Farmer, 75, formerly of Canton, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011. Born in Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Edna Elizabeth Matilda Pless Poston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy V. Farmer; a son, Dewey L. Farmer; a daughter, Marsha Rose Farmer Glance; and brothers, Clarence C., Everette L., and Clifford A. Poston. Ruth Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a retired homemaker and a member of East Fork Baptist Church, where she taught Bible School, and the Cruso Friendship Club – Quilting. She is survived by a son, Steve Farmer (Jennifer) of Bishopville; a daughter, Elizabeth Carver of Arden; two sisters, Pauline "Polly" Mathews of Hartsville, and Nancy Mae Deaver (Russell), of Canton; a brother, Dr. Hugh A. Poston (Birdie), of Dryden, NY; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at East Fork Baptist Church. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements.
