Ruth Burleson

Ruth Carpenter Burleson, 87, of Ormond Beach, FL passed from this life on May 18, 2018 and now resides with her heavenly Father. Ruth was born on October 3, 1930 in Avery County, NC to the late Sam and Catherine Carpenter. Ruth was married to Ernest Burleson for 61 years and they lived in Asheville until their retirement when they moved to Florida.
Ruth worked as a seamstress at several companies in the Asheville Area. She was a member of Cedar Hill Free Will Baptist Church for approximately 60 years. She served as a Sunday School teacher and worker in the church for many years. Ruth loved God, her family and her church. She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruth was a very good cook and was well known for her homemade cakes and pies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Burleson and two sons, Ernest Jr. and Gregory Burleson.
She is survived by 3 children, Linda (Frank) Mobley of Ormond Beach, Gary Burleson of Ormond Beach, and Darlene Gosnell (Richard Hughes) of Marion, NC; grandchildren, Scott Myers, Jeremy, Megan, and Nick Burleson; several great grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold Taylor of Kings Mountain and Don Taylor of Newland.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 25th at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn with Rev. Howard Messer officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
