Ruby Burchfield Moody

Ruby Burchfield Moody, 83, of Waynesville passed away October 15, 2023, at Haywood Regional Medical Center with her loved ones by her side.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Effie Reece Burchfield.  She was preceded in death by her husband Frank “Pet” Moody who died in 2003; a brother, Frank Burchfield, Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Grooms.

Ruby was employed by Haywood Regional Medical Center and worked in the cafeteria for 12 years.  She was a member of Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church.  She had passion for reading, sewing and enjoyed cooking a warm meal.  She loved to watch old movies for enjoyment.

Ruby will be deeply missed by those who knew her well. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of her loved ones. She leaves behind two daughters, Janet Crowder (Randy) of Marion, NC and Sally Brown (Wayne) of Waynesville; a son, Marty Moody (Kim) of Canton.  She also leaves behind a brother, Wayne Burchfield (Sharon) of Waynesville; six grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Jeff, Jonathan, Megan and Ethan; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, with Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
