Ruby Conard

Canton - Ruby Ford Conard, age 92, of the Beaverdam Community, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late, James and Lilly Clark Ford. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Conard, who died in 1990; four sons, Kenneth Lee, Roy Lester, Larry Allen and Charles Lee Conard and one daughter, Barbara Jean Stephenson. Ruby attended Beaverdam Baptist church and was an accomplished seamstress, artist and cook. She was a warm and loving influence for anyone whose life she ever touched. Her door was always open in welcome for family and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Geraldine Cook and her husband, Guy, of Canton; three sons, Bobby Joe Conard of Waynesville, Howard Conard and his wife, Becky, of Asheboro and Jim Conard and his wife, Danielle, of High Point; one son-in-law, Jerry Stephenson of Canton; two daughters-in-law, Neonda Conard of Canton and Janie Conard of Clyde; one brother-in-law, Claude Conard and his wife, Nellie, of Waynesville; one sister-in-law, Addie Conard of Canton; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral with Reverend A.C. Hill and Reverend Claude Conard officiating. Burial will follow at Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at Ruby's residence.
