Ruby Boyd

Ruby Ross Boyd, age 82, was quietly ushered into her glorious heavenly home early Saturday morning, October 30, 2021.

A native of Haywood County, Ruby was the daughter of the late Roy Hobert Ross and Amanda Henson Ross.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Geneva R. Smart, Clara R. Swanger and Louise R. Worley; and four brothers, Brown W. Ross, Calvin Ben Ross, Taylor M. Ross and Roy H. Ross, Jr.

Ruby was born in the fall season of October 4th, 1939.  She was married, lived, and worked in Waynesville where she retired from Dayco Southern after 36 years of service.  She was a member of Encouraging Word Baptist Church and was a faithful daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and preparing home cooked meals for her grandchildren.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joe E. Boyd, her son, Ross Boyd, of Greenville, SC, a sister, Betsy R. Buckner, of Etowah, NC and a brother, Ralph Dean Ross, and his wife, Barbara, of Waynesville, NC., a granddaughter, Brooke Boyd and a grandson, Blake Boyd, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A private celebration will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Encouraging Word Baptist Church, P.O. Box 797, Waynesville, NC 28786, for disaster relief to help families devastated by the flood in the Cruso Community.

The care of Mrs. Boyd has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
