Roy West

Asheville- Roy Reeves West - age 81 of 41 sunset Drive died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Mission Campus Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Dennis and Myrtle Hall West. Mr. West was preceded in death by a son, Dennis West; a twin brother, Troy West and a sister, Hazel Worley. He retired from CP&L in 1985 with 34 years of service and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Roy and his wife were avid volunteers with the Asheville-Buncombe Christian Ministries. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Lura Mae Medford West; one daughter, Phyllis Jones and her husband Bob of Sanford, NC; one son, Steve West and his wife Judy of Waynesville; one brother, Herman West of Leicester; a daughter-n-law Jessica West of Decatur, Ga.; four grandsons, Jimmy, Matthew, Joey and Taylor West; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kyla and Jacob West and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend James H. Johnson and Reverend David Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery in Leicester. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
