Roy Sumpter Iii

Waynesville, Dr. Glenn Roy Sumpter, III, age 78, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at his residence.

A native of Seattle, Washington he was a son of the late Glenn Roy Sumpter, Jr. and Beth McCrary Sumpter.  A professor, naturopathic physician, government expert witness and minister.  Roy was a researcher and student searching for ways to make the lives of others better, particularly in the area of behavioral sciences. He was responsible for designing Masters and Doctoral programs for several universities and on the day of his death he received the honor of Professor Emeritus from Southern California University.

Roy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Shelia Radford Sumpter; three daughters, Nichole Sumpter, of Waynesville; Erica Sumpter, of Franklin, Tennessee and Kristyn Sumpter, of Senatobia, Mississippi; sister, Christine Donner, and her husband, James, of Seattle, Washington; a half-brother, Tracy Sumpter, of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, Jacob and Taylor Payne and Presley Barnard.

The care of Dr. Sumpter has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
