"Precious Wife and Mother"
Waynesville, Rosalie Ethel Brietzke Royer, 89, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Autumn Care of Waynesville.
A native of Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Herman Theodore and Olga Hartkorn Brietzke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Royer who died in 2017; sisters, Elfrieda Brietzke and Erna Brietzke Francis and brother-in-law, Martin Francis; a brother, Herbert Brietzke; son-in-law, Roger Moore; and a great-grandchild, PJ Moses. Rose was an avid outdoors person; she enjoyed playing softball, croquet, camping and staying active with a variety of outdoor activities. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, and was involved with a variety of activities throughout the years, such as working with and teaching children, assisting the youth with summer camps, leader of AWANA, and teaching her Senior Women’s Ruth Sunday School class. Rose enjoyed animals, but especially pigs, and had a big collection of pig cookie jars, stuffed animals as well as salt and pepper shakers, biker pigs and many more. She enjoyed farming, gardening and canning, and she loved tea parties. You could often find her up late in front of a sewing machine, sewing clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Rose also enjoyed putting puzzles together, fresh flowers and banana split ice cream. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and eventually a grandmother. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment keeping her great sense of humor throughout her life.
Rose is survived by four daughters, Diane Royer, Debi Moore, Denise Royer and Dawn Dowdle, and her husband, Mike; two sons, Daniel Royer and his wife, Talina, and Darrin Royer and his wife, Cynthia; brother, Kurt Brietzke; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Woodland Baptist church with Pastor Adam Black officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
