Rosalee Ledbetter Brookshire

Rosalee Ledbetter Brookshire passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.  Born on October 30, 1937, Rosalee's life was a testament to kindness and love.

Rosalee dedicated two decades of her career to Champion Paper Mill as a rewinder before embracing retirement.  Her commitment and diligence left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the company she served.

One of Rosalee's greatest joys in life was cultivating beautiful gardens through her remarkable "green thumb".  Her talent for nurturing plants resulted in beautiful landscapes that radiated with vibrant colors and fragrant blooms.  Rosalee's love for nature extended to canning, an artistry she embraced with passion.  By preserving the fruits of her labor, she ensured that her family would relish the taste of her garden long after the harvest season ended.

Above all else, Rosalee cherished spending time with her loved ones.  Whether it was creating lasting memories around the dinner table or embarking on adventures together, her family held a special place in her heart.  Her welcoming spirit and Appalachian strength made everyone feel at ease in her presence.

Rosalee's adventurous side led her to Ho-Hum Campground at Lake Chatuge, where she found solace amidst natures embrace.  Camping trips with friends and family became cherished moments filled with laughter, storytelling, and awe-inspiring sunsets that painted the sky with hues of gold.

Rosalee is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Brookshire, who departed from this world in 2008.  She also joins six sisters and three brothers who have gone before her.

She will forever be remembered by those she leaves behind: daughter, Sharon Brookshire Fish of Lake Junaluska; sons, Ricky Brookshire of Canton, and Randy Brookshire and his wife Reagan of Canton; sister, Mary Lee Emory and her husband Charles of Leicester; sisters-in-law, Betty Brookshire of Leicester, Dorothy Thomason of Canton, and Carolyn Brookshire.  Rosalee's legacy lives on through her 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the love and values she instilled in them, and her beloved nieces, Inez Singleton and Alma Pinner.

To honor Rosalee's life, a visitation will be held at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services in Canton on Thursday, October 19, 2023.  Beginning at 1:30 p.m., friends and family will gather to pay their respects and share the treasured memories they hold dear.  A graveside service will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road at 3:00 p.m., where Rosalee will find eternal rest among the serene landscapes she adored.

The care of Mrs. Brookshire has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes and an online memorial register is available at "Obituaries" at www.wellsfuneralhome.com.
