Canton – Ronald Lee “Ron” McClure, 77, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at his residence.
Ron was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Spellman Garrett and Thelma Allison McClure. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenny Warren. Ron previously worked at Dayco, was a carpenter, worked in maintenance at the Irene Wortham Center and was a present employee of Allied Security. His hobbies were yard work and being an avid handyman. Ron was also a member of Sunny Point Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, June Taylor McClure; two sons, Ronald Kent McClure and Patrick Lee McClure (Kim), all of Waynesville; a stepson, Britt Warren (Lydia) of New Bern; two grandsons, Mattison and Seth McClure; three great-grandchildren, Atlee, Malachi, and Holland McClure; four step-grandchildren, Will, Erin, Zachary, and Charlotte; and two great-grandchildren, Kenley and Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Sunny Point Baptist Church with the Reverend Doug Henson, Reverend Seth McClure, and Reverend James Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
