RONALD E. GLAVICH

Waynesville-Ronald Edward ''Ronnie'' Glavich, age 53, a loving husband and father died November 6, 2002 at the VA Medical Center after an extended illness.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Edna Moore Glavich of Waynesville and the late Fred Glavich. He was a 1967 graduate of Tuscola High School. He was a retired US Army Sergeant First Class having served during the Vietnam War as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Brigade. During his military career, he was stationed in Germany and Korea. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart as well as the Bronze Star. He was a member of Waynesville VFW Post 5202, American Legion Post 47, Disabled American Veteran Post 89, and was a lifetime member in the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Following his retirement from the military, he was employed at Walker Service Station and Lee Brooks Trucking. He was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church and attended Bible Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Glenda Shuler Glavich, of Waynesville; a daughter, Bridgett Mills, of Waynesville; a son, Brock Glavich, and his girlfriend, Tara; two stepdaughters, Crystal Rayborn and her husband, Sean, of Glendora, CA, and Michelle Barnett and her husband, Pat, of Lawton, OK; a stepson, Michael Scott Sheets, of CA; a sister, Patty Cothern and her husband, Doug, of Waynesville; one grandson, Blake Mills; two stepgrandsons; and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2002 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Raymond Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Glavich Family Cemetery with full military honors conducted by a detachment from Fort Bragg, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2002 at the funeral home, and at other times, will be at the residence, 222 Rumbling Gap Road, Waynesville.
