Roger Boyd “Bo” Medford, Jr., 68, of the Ironduff Community, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, children, family, and his faithful companion, Ace the Golden Doodle, following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born July 1, 1957, in Waynesville, he was the son of the late Boyd and Nancy Jones Medford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Medford.
Bo is survived by his devoted wife, Angie Medford; his daughters, Lucy Medford of Waynesville and Sara Medford (fiancée, Hunter Bradley) of Gallatin, Tennessee; his sisters, Kathy Wyatt and Jane Nicholson; and the extended Medford and Galloway families, all of whom he loved deeply.
A friend to all, Bo was known for his kind heart, steady presence, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or quiet encouragement, he showed up without hesitation. His loyalty and generosity left an imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
An outdoorsman at heart, Bo found joy in riding horses, camping, and spending time in nature. He was also a proud, UNC Tar Heel Basketball fan, who rarely missed a game. Above all, Bo cherished time with his family, creating memories that will be held close for generations.
Bo was a dedicated member of the Firewood Ministry, which was instituted by Richard Reeves, through Longs Chapel and Mountain Projects. Year after year, he helped cut and prepare firewood to ensure neighbors stayed warm during the winter months. His dependable spirit, love of the outdoors, Tar Heel pride, and deep devotion to his family and community will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Wells Events Center in Waynesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Firewood Ministry (Longs Chapel / Mountain Projects), P.O. Box 611, Waynesville, NC 28786.
The care of Mr. Medford has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
