Roger Green

July 21, 1933 — February 1, 2022

Asheville

In his long life and in his prime, Roger was a swashbuckling gentle giant with a huge appetite for life. Growing up in Toledo, OH and through his life lived in many locations including Georgia, the West Indies, Las Vegas, Miami and finally Asheville, NC. He served in Korea as an Airborne Ranger (11th Airborne-187th RCT). He was the Master of Friendship Lodge 706, Columbus, GA, and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He was also an Elk, and a former president of Kiwanis, Miami, FL. He loved flying planes, sailing, deep sea diving, and life, and especially his wife of 40 years, Nancy. His vocations were many including corporate executive, real estate broker, CPA, entrepreneur. Over several years, he especially enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving dinners for the Salvation Army in Miami and led backpacking trips with Big City Mountaineers.

Roger is remembered as a kind-hearted man who was generous to a fault. His wife, Nancy Miller-Green survives him and is grateful for the many adventures they enjoyed together. He is survived by: Susan DeJoy (Dan), Dave Nimmons (George), John (Barbara). He was preceded in death by his son Danial Green and his brother-in law, Donald Steinberg. He is survived by his sister, Janet Steinberg and by two sons, Joel Green (Vanessa) and Randall/Frank Berenson (Gloriana) and two daughters, Jennifer (Ian) and Kelly (Tom). Beloved uncle to many nephews and nieces and grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring in Asheville.
