Maggie Valley, Robert Thomas Williams, age 85, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Maggie Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation.
A native of Independence, Iowa, he was a son of the late George Pinckley and Elizabeth Kist Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Richard Williams. Bob was a man of many talents. He proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army. With his engineering savvy and determination, he proudly worked 30 years with Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois. At the age of 51, Bob retired from the private sector and dedicated the rest of his life to his family. Bob celebrated life to the fullest, enjoying motorcycling, building gadgets for his grandkids, and relaxing in the breezes of his mountaintop gazebos.
Bob is survived by this wife of 47 years, Barbara Williams; three daughters, Dawn Williams Tox, and her husband, Sebastian, of Maggie Valley, Holly Mena, and her husband, Roberto, of Asheville and Nicole Williams, and her husband, Michael Stern, of Ossining, New York; son, Kevin Thomas Williams, and his wife, Chelsea, of Waynesville; eight grandchildren, Levi, Martin, Malachi, Asher, Zoey, Marley, Ivy and Rowen.
A memorial mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3 2019 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church with Father Benonis officiating.
