Waynesville - Robert Arthur “Rob” Young, 53, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital after a battle with cancer.
Rob was a native of Perrysville, Ohio and a son of Stacie Biddle Young of Perrysville, Ohio and the late Robert “Bob” Young. He graduated from Loudonville High School in 1987 and left for boot camp the next day. He was a United States Navy veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Upon returning from the Middle East, Rob made his home in Haywood County and started working in the home construction industry, obtaining his commercial and residential contractor license. Rob was the owner of WNC Home Builders in Clyde for the last 20 years.
Rob loved his family, his dogs, especially Jax, and his friends. He was the life of the party and loved keeping people on their toes. Over the last year, most of his time was spent with his grandson, River. Rob was a devoted husband and the most wonderful fun-loving dad you could ask for.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karen Thompson Young. He proudly raised four amazing children that put their lives on hold to care for him during his illness; daughter, Tiffany Kibler of Ohio, married to Jon Kibler, children Grayson, Jaxton and Ricky, daughter Kinzee Young of Knoxville, son Nathan Young of Clyde, married to Bridget with son River, and his youngest son Sam Young of Waynesville; a sister, Tracie Middleton (Jim); a brother, Casey Young (Kellyn); a mother-in-law, Sharon Thompson; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Thompson (Vandi).
A Rob style celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 5pm-8pm at 1370 Cove Creek Road, Waynesville. Please dress casually, drop in or stay and spend time with family and friends.
