Robert Oneal Smyrl

Robert Oneal Smyrl, 91, of Candler passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Pisgah Manor.  A native of Neeses, SC, he was a son of the late Bennie English and Edith Dukes Smyrl.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his second wife, Mary Thomas Smyrl on May 21, 2015 and son, John R. Smyrl on October 14, 2022.

Oneal’s life work was in the photography business, he loved everything to do with the camera and the art of photography. He loved music and played both the piano and organ. His inquisitive mind was always eager to learn something new, even to the end.

He is survived by his children, Claudia S. Parker (Randy) and David Eugene Smyrl (Beth); sister, Ann S. Avant of Georgetown, SC; brother, Marion V. Smyrl of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC.
