Robert R. Sutton
Candler – Robert Randolft Sutton, 88, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at his residence.
Robert was a native of Haywood County but had resided in Buncombe County for 40+ years. He was a son of the late Carl Greenwood and Zona Jenkins Sutton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Lawrence, Charles, and Lloyd Sutton and two sisters, Genevieve Overman and Mary Ann Price; and a grandson, Damien Stopkowitz. Robert formerly worked at Dayco and Vulcan Materials and later retired as supervisor of Forest Lawn Memorial Park. He was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Ledford Sutton; two daughters, Tina Foster (Jeff) and Marcia Smith all of Candler; a brother, Roy Sutton of Crabtree; and two grandchildren Elijah Foster and Antonio Torres.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Ben Heise and Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army.
Robert was a big man with big hands and an even bigger heart who loved fiercely and left a big mark on all who knew him.
