Waynesville, Robert Davis "R. D." Messer, Jr., Age 81, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at his residence. He is survived by a daughter, Suzanne M. Smith and family; son, Wallace K. Messer and family; brother, Joe Jack Messer and family; and lifelong friend Mattie Ogden and family. Private funeral services will be held. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
