Robert Taylor McCracken

Robert Taylor “Little Bob” McCracken, 80, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at his residence. 

Robert was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Tom and Mae Morris McCracken.  He was a 1961 graduate of Clyde High School and attended Massey College in Atlanta, Georgia.  Robert was a lifelong youth athletic coach with a genuine love for all sports and the development of young athletes. In 1997, he retired from Champion International with 31 years of service as a computer systems engineer.  Robert was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Mathis McCracken; daughter, Melissa McCracken Cayton (Brent) of Clyde; a sister, Donna McCracken of Waynesville; one niece, Cindy Bryant (Eddie) of Waynesville; and one grandson, Tyler Redditt of Clyde.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Byron Burnette officiating.
