Robert Arthur Green, age 80, of Cruso Road, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. He was the son of the late Ferdie Rumless and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cogburn Green and was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Vera Elizabeth Evans Green, who died May 23, 2007 and a brother, Hobert Hardy Green. Robert loved watching the Braves and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From 1966 - 1979, Robert and his wife Vera owned and operated Cruso Grocery and then 20 years of flea marketing. He will always have a special place in his heart for his wife and companion Vera. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Henson and her husband, Larry, of Canton; a son, Ray Green and his wife, Dinah, of Cruso; two grandchildren, Julie Ann Green Grasty and her husband, Mike, of Waynesville and James Ray Green of Cruso; two great-grandchildren, Christina Elizabeth Grasty and Alma Brooke-Taylor Grasty and a great-nephew, Thomas Green of Weaverville. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jake Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 on Monday.
