Rickey Dennis Whitaker, 57, of Camden died on March 27, 2017 at home after a battle with cancer.
Rickey was born in Bossier, Louisiana to Katherine and Kenneth Whitaker and was baptized at the First Baptist Church. He was a 1977 graduate of Dover High School. He was married to his wife of 23 years in 1982 at the Dover Air Force Base Catholic Chapel. Rickey was currently employed as a service manager for Alger Oil and Propane in Chestertown, MD for the past eight years and was well known throughout the heating and air conditioning industry.
Rickey's passion for music was his life. He played in a band called Morgan's Choice named after his street where he and many band mates practiced for their gigs and played at numerous local pubs. Rickey also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and volunteered in many charity rides across the state. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover.
Rickey is survived by his two sons: Jesse A. Whitaker and his wife Anne of El Cajon, CA and Greg A. Whitaker of Camden; his mother, Katherine Whitaker of Canton, N.C.; one brother, Kenneth S. Whitaker and his wife Susan of Toccoa, GA; two grandchildren Lily Whitaker and Wesley Whitaker; two nieces Katy and Kenley; and his former wife Pamela J. Sheldon and her husband Todd of Magnolia. He is also survived by his Aunt Wanda, uncle, cousins and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth C. Whitaker and his sister Sheila.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 3rd at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
