Richard "Dick" Forney

Waynesville, Richard "Dick" Forney, age 73, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County he was a son of the late Thomas and Myrtle Lytle Forney.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.  Dick retired as a Roadside Service Technician from Brad Ragan Goodyear with 42 years of service.  He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.  Dick enjoyed relaxing with family and friends and loved to be around children and helping others.

Dick is survived by a daughter, Kendra Brown (Javonte); two sons, Dewayne McElroy and Richard McElroy, and his wife, Lisa; sister, Esther Gibson; five grandchildren, Michael Woodring, Danielle, Nathaniel and Kelsey McElroy and JàZharia Brown.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Roderick Sanders, Reverend Shannon Shepard and Reverend Walter Bryson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The care of Mr. Forney has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
