Arden
Richard James Wolfcale, 94, of Arden, NC, passed away suddenly after worsening health conditions on October 20, 2026. Richard was born March 4, 1932, to the late James H. Wolfcale and Deloras Wolfcale in Marion, IN. After the early death of his father, he was raised by Leo Meadows, his stepfather. Richard lived much of his life in Ft. Wayne, IN. He married the late Shirley Ann Crothers from St. Joe, IN. in 1954. She preceded him in death by 10 days. They had been married 72 years, and both were totally committed to their marriage.
In addition to the death of his parents, his stepfather and his wife, Richard lost his youngest daughter, Sarah J. Wolfcale in 1972 at the age of six. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Norma Wolfcale Dellinger.
Richard was drafted and served his country at age 20. He was sent to the Koren War conflict through his tour of duty with the U.S. Army. Richard is survived by three daughters; Shawn (Doug), Janette (Bert), and Marisa (Mithran). Richard was a faithful man of God. He was deeply loved by his wife, Shirley. His devotion to her was strong. Richard was an ordained minister who preached, led, and built stronger congregations. He was well known for his strong abilities in evangelism. He loved telling others about his Lord and Savior.
He served Christian non-denominational churches in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, and Iowa. He was in full-time ministry for over 50 years and truly loved to be in service to others. He was very ready to leave his earthly body and looked forward to reuniting with others who has passed before him.
Death takes the body. God takes the soul.
Our Mind holds the memories. Our heart keeps the love.
Our faith lets us know that we will meet again.
