Canton – Reverend Ned Charles Pressley, 76, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Ned was a native of Haywood County and a son of the late Joseph Ernest and Ruby Rogers Pressley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Pressley; great-grandson, Weston James; two sisters, Gwynneth Edwards and Juanita Kilby; and three brothers, George Carroll, Reverend Ted Pressley, and Billy Joe Pressley. Ned’s passion was pastoring and winning souls and his interest was in antique cars, fishing, and carpentry.
He is survived by his wife of 58 ½ years, Alice Hightower Pressley; four sons, Jeff Pressley (Gail) of Rutherfordton, Reverend Tim Pressley (Tracey) of Cashiers, Randy Pressley (Paula) of Canton, and Reverend Marty Pressley (Angela) of Bryson City; one brother, Wade Pressley (Nancy); seven grandchildren, Andrew Pressley, Austin Pressley, Alyssa Boone, Courtney Smith, Justin Pressley, Madison Pressley, and Hannah Pressley; and five great-grandchildren, Sadie Pressley, Wyatt Smith, Hudson Pressley, Huntleigh Pressley, and Lane Boone.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Mountain View Church of God with the Reverend Tim Pressley, Reverend Mike Hicks, and Reverend Marty Pressley officiating. Burial will follow at Cruso United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
