Canton - Reverend Stanwood Loring Bean, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native of South Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Raymond Francis and Nellie Wenonah Atkinson Bean. Stanwood was a United States Navy veteran and a retired Presbyterian PCA Minister.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ped Richardson Fant Bean; four daughters, Judie Smith and husband, Sylvester, of Learned, Mississippi, Alanna Daniel and Jim Wojda of Cedar, Michigan, Elizabeth Egley and Jennifer Stuart and husband, Travis, all of Canton; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel with the Reverend Roger Collins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood County Public Library, 11 Pennsylvania Avenue, Canton, NC 28716 or to Silver Bluff Nursing Home Activity Department, 100 Silver Bluff Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
