Rebecca Dean

Candler – Rebecca Joye Reeves Dean, born April 24, 1980, passed from this world on December 15, 2019 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.

Rebecca fought the battle of Juvenile Diabetes and its destructive powers for 29 years.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted and Pansy Reeves, and Flora and William Humphrey.  Rebecca was a 1998 graduate of Tuscola High School and then Western Carolina University.  Her careers included management in Jason’s Deli and State Farm Insurance.  She was creative and quick witted.  Rebecca loved her family, pets, the beach, reading, cooking and had an amazing eye for design.

She is survived by her husband, Leejohn Dean of Powdersville, South Carolina; parents, Shirley Humphrey of Candler and Larry Reeves of Waynesville; a loving sister, Sara and her husband, Jeremy and was Auntie Becca to 2-year old Asher.  She will be sadly missed by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Amy McClure and Reverend Larry Reeves officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 205 Regency Executive Park, Suite 102, Charlotte, NC  28217, the Kidney Foundation of NC, 933 Louise Avenue, Suite 101B, Charlotte, NC  28204 or to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC  29615.
