Obituary

Rebecca Ann Bushong, age 76, of Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Rebecca was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and the heart of her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard Joseph Bushong; her daughters, Teresa Bushong-Wills (Blaine), Marty Vigness (Brian), and Stacy Cote (Tim); and her cherished grandchildren, Logan, Sierra, Sydney, Lindsay, Jennifer, Paige, Zackary, and Samuel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Stutzman and Herbert Stanfield.

Born and raised in Syracuse, Indiana, Rebecca treasured her childhood in the close-knit farming community surrounded by lakes and the beauty of northern Indiana. Shortly after getting married, she and her husband moved to Florida, where they built a life filled with love, family, and adventure. Over the years she called Miami, Pembroke Pines, Weston, and Howey-in-the-Hills home, while also spending cherished time in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, among the mountains she loved so dearly.

Rebecca embraced life with enthusiasm and grace. She was an avid golfer whose remarkable achievement of seven holes-in-one became a source of pride and countless stories shared with family and friends. She loved traveling, cooking meals that brought people together, sewing, gardening, attending live music events, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Her passion for the mountains of North Carolina brought her peace and joy.

Professionally, Rebecca began her career in accounting at a small CPA firm in Pembroke Pines, Florida. She later, alongside her husband Richard, helped build several family-owned building materials distribution businesses, including Glass Masonry, from the ground up through hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

More than any accomplishment, Rebecca will be remembered for the love she shared so freely. She had a warm and welcoming spirit, a generous heart, and a gift for making everyone feel like family. Her strength, kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the countless memories she created and the love she leaves behind. Her life was a beautiful example of dedication to family, faith, friendship, and living each day with gratitude and joy.

A celebration of Rebecca's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages loved ones to honor Rebecca's memory by spending time with family, enjoying the beauty of nature, tending a garden, listening to live music, or sharing a meal with those they love—just as she would have wanted.

May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
