Raymond Hightower

Andy Raymond Hightower, age 64, of Pea Ridge Road died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. He was a native of Transylvania County, NC and the son of Dorothy Mae Mason Hightower and the late Annias "Dime" Hightower. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Hightower and a sister, Betty Louise Mintz. Raymond absolutely loved spending time sitting on his porch swing. He also enjoyed trout fishing, watching wrestling, and NASCAR. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Norma Jean Hightower; two sons, James Raymond Hightower and David Annias Hightower and his wife, Anita, all of Cornelia, GA; a daughter, Betty Jean Arrowood and her husband, Johnny, of Cornelia, GA; three brothers, Oscar Hightower and his wife, Carolyn, of Athens, AG, Arthur Hightower and his wife, Marie, of Mt. Airy and Bobby Queen Hightower of Valdese; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeff Yeary officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
