Ray Stoner

Waynesville-Ray H. Stoner, age 86, formerly of Cranberry Township, PA, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. A native of New Florence, PA, he was born March 16, 1918, a son of the late Hiram and Grace Wallace Stoner. Ray and his wife, Jane, have resided in Haywood County for the past five years. A graduate in 1940 from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Electrical Engineering, Ray worked at various companies and later became a sales consultant in that field before his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jane Katherine Swart Stoner; a daughter, Kaaren Stoner and her husband, David Erickson, of Waynesville; two sons, Jeffrey Stoner and his wife, Linda, of Weaverville and Ray Scott Stoner of New Galilee, PA; two sisters, Marion Flynn, of Long Island, NY and Alice Richards of Venice, FL; a brother, Roger Stoner, of Detroit, MI; and one granddaughter, Kelly Stoner, of Denver, CO. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the local chapter of the American Red Cross, 1668 Brown Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
