Bethel - Ray “Dobin” Owen, 81, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at his residence.
Ray was a native of Haywood County, the son of the late Hershel Reeves Owen and Minnie Rogers Owen. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Junior, Ward, D.L., Willis Dean, Wilma and Hilda. He was a former employee of American Enka Corp., an iron worker for I-MOCO, as well as a farmer, who raised cattle. Ray loved the outdoors, loved talking to people and was known to never have met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting Bethel Grocery daily to have himself a cup of coffee and to chat with his friends.
Ray is survived by his wife of 60 years, Naomi Burnette Owen; three daughters, Debbie Russell (Gary), Jan Macolly (Jim) and Sandy Moore (Joe Arwine); and grandchildren, Aaron Owen, Kayla Cacicia (Zach) and Justin Moore.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton with Reverend Steve Frazier and Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
