Ralph Odyn Toomey

Clyde, Ralph Odyn Toomey, 64, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

He was born and raised in Millry, Alabama to James F. "Jimmy" and Faye Lynette Sullivan Toomey on March 6, 1959.  He was named after a respected family friend and Auburn football coach Ralph Jordan.  Ralph was a devout conservative Christian who followed the teachings of the World Wide Church of God.  He was a dedicated employee of Asheville Wilbert Vault Services for 26 years serving as Plant Manager until his retirement in March of 2021.  Ralph was an accomplished and self-taught musician playing multiple instruments such as guitar, banjo, mandolin and upright bass.  He was also a singer and songwriter.  Ralph had a love for bluegrass music and one of the highlights of his life was the opportunity to sing and play professionally with his friends in the bluegrass gospel group, "Rock Springs Reunion" along with his wife, Angela "Angie".  Ralph was an avid reader, enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, gardening and cooking.  He was a man who truly loved his Savior and wanted to live a life pleasing to Him.  Ralph deeply loved God, his family and friends. 

Ralph leaves behind his mother, Faye; his loving wife of 38 years, Angie; sister-in-law, Pamela Derrick; nephew, Steve Woods; niece, Allison Butler; and a great-nephew, Justin Woods. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Ferguson and Pastor Matt Pruitt officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
