Ralph Putnam

Ralph Edgar Putnam, age 92, died Friday, February 15, 2008 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late, Rufus and Hester Pressley Putnam. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Kell Putnam, who died in 1986; a daughter, Lois Marie Wilson, and a grandson, Bobby Joe Jenkins. He was a self-employed carpenter for over 40 years. He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Jenkins and her husband, James, of Canton; one son, R.L. Putnam of Canton; one sister, Nora Benfield of Canton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2008 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Lowder officiating. Burial will follow in Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Morning Star Cemetery Association (Trust Fund), P.O.
