Canton – Ralph Barnes, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
He was a native of Haywood County and grew up in Jackson County where he lived with his grandmother. He was the son of the late Allie Barnes Lindsay and step son of Dallas Lindsay. Ralph loved the Lord and his church family at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church where he was a very active member. He loved to go fishing and camping. Ralph also enjoyed wood working and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Wright Barnes; a daughter Stephanie D. Kennedy and husband, Robin, of Bakersville; a son, John D. Barnes of Candler; and two grandchildren, Zachary T. Barnes of West Asheville and Amy D. Coley of Bakersville.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Greg Cullen and Reverend Steve Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church.
