Rachel Ann Parker

Waynesville, Rachel Ann Thompson Parker, 86, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Autumn Care of Waynesville.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Carl Winston and Ann Cagle Thompson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley "Gene" Parker, who died in 2020; brothers, Ronald, Donald and William Thompson.  Rachel enjoyed singing and playing the piano.  She loved playing bingo, making crafts and assisting others with daily activities at Autumn Care.

Rachel is survived by a son, Reverend C. Randall Parker, and his wife, Judy, of Yakima, Washington; brother, Doug Thompson; two grandchildren, Zachary Parker (Morgan) and Belle Parker; one great-grandson, Reid Carter Parker.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend C. Randall Parker and Reverend Rodney Henson officiating.  Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autumn Care Activity Fund, 360 Old Balsam Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The care of Mrs. Parker has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
