Rachel Wingler Kinsland, born on October 20, 1935, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the age of ninety. Rachel was the beloved wife of the late Wilfred Kinsland who passed away in 2000. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ida Wingler Lambert. Rachel is also proceeded in death by a sister, Ada Hoyle, and her late brother-in-law, Wayne Hoyle.
Rachel devoted her life to caring for others, drawing on her talents and compassion while serving as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals including Haywood County Hospital. She made a lasting impact on countless patients during her years of service, earning the respect and gratitude of her colleagues and everyone whose lives were touched by her attentive and nurturing care. A proud and devoted member of Crabtree Baptist Church, Rachel’s deep faith was evident in all that she did.
She had a special place in her heart for animals, and her love for her cats and dogs was well known among those close to her. Her gentle spirit and kindness extended to all creatures, reflecting her generous and nurturing nature.
Rachel's life was marked by enduring relationships with her family and friends. Through joy and hardship, Rachel’s presence was a source of strength and comfort for those around her. She was respected for her quiet wisdom, unwavering loyalty, and the genuine kindness she offered in every chapter of her ninety remarkable years.
Left to cherish her memories are her niece, Katrina Hoyle Redmon (Mark), and her nephew, Ronald Hoyle (Brenda). Rachel’s legacy continues as she is lovingly remembered by her great nephew, Joshua Hoyle (Jennifer), great-great niece, Kayla Miller (Hayden), and great-great nephew, Collin Hoyle, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Her life will be celebrated at a graveside service on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 480 Crabtree Church Rd, Clyde, NC. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Rachel are invited to honor her memory. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at McKendree Methodist Church, 3537 Maiden Hwy, Lincolnton, NC. A luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Lincoln County Animal Services, 650 John Howell Memorial Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092 or Laps & Naps, Home for Senior Cats, 151 NC-9 Ste B Box 167, Black Mtn, NC 28711.
Rachel Kinsland will be remembered for her steadfast kindness, her unwavering faith, and her lifelong commitment to caring for others and her grateful attitude. Her legacy remains bright in the hearts of all who knew her.
The care of Mrs. Kinsland has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
