Peggy Swink

Canton - Peggy Stamey Swink, 79, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Harris Regional Hospital.

A native of and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Billy Erastus and Molly Jane Case Stamey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jordan Wheeler Thomas; one sister, Shirley Burnette and her husband, Howard. Peggy enjoyed crafts, sewing and making clothes for her family, cooking, working in the yard, and in her flowers.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joel Swink; two sons, Michael Wheeler (Karen) of Morganton and Kevin Wheeler (Jennifer) of Candler; two step daughters, Nancy Rice of Sylva and Amy Elders (Danny) of Wilmont; one brother, Roy Stamey (Barbara) of Clyde; four grandchildren, Megan, Bailey, and Colton Wheeler, and Will Holcombe; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Gibson and Knox Thomas; and many nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Allan Rash and Reverend Davis Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
