Peggy Mease

Canton, Peggy Huffman Mease, 88, entered her eternal heavenly home on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A  native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Abel and Phoebe Duckett Huffman.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Mease, who died in 1995 and a brother, William Ray Huffman.  Peggy was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and served in various positions.  Her caring manner and faithfulness exemplified her character.

She is survived by a son, Terry Mease and his wife, Marsha, of Canton; two sisters, Wanda Pee and Carolyn Hipps and her husband, Lonnie, of Canton; two grandchildren, Brad Mease and Stephanie Bell; and three great-grandchildren, Clayton Mease and Lukas and Liam LaFalce.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Crestview Baptist Church with the Reverend Daniel Page officiating.  Burial will follow at Long’s Community Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Silver Bluff Nursing Home for the care Peggy received over the years.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church Outreach Ministries, 3258 Pisgah Drive, Canton, NC  28716 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
