Peggy Ann Gosnell, 76, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
A native of Buncombe County, Peggy was born on October 15, 1950, to the late Johnny and Catherine Brookshire. She was a spirited and sassy woman who loved those around her in her own special way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Gosnell, who passed away in January 2026.
Peggy was dearly loved by those who truly knew her. Her quick wit and unique outlook on life were gifts she shared with everyone she met. She enjoyed gardening, both inside and outside the home, and found great joy in spending time with family and friends. Peggy will be fondly remembered for her grilled cheese sandwiches, her love of 7-Up, and the many memories she created with those she loved. Though she was not known as an animal lover, she developed a special bond with Midnight, her late husband's cat, and lovingly cared for her in the months following Eddie's passing.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Catherine Lenay Marlor (Bobby); her son, Dain Randolph Leard (Michelle); her grandchildren, Alicia Leard, Chelsea Hurley, and Hope Marlor "Sweet Apple"; and her great-grandchildren, Alexius, Emmett, Ella, and Ethan. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Banks (George), JoAnn Burrell (Jack), and Howard “Butch” Brookshire, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the Wells Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, with the Reverend Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, where Peggy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
The care of Peggy and her family has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
