Pearl Clark

Pearl Jenkins Clark, age 94, of South Main Street, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Brian Center of Waynesville. A native of Buncombe County, she was born on February 2, 1914 and was a daughter of the late Houston T. and Janny Lou Johnson Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Collie Clark, who died in 1993; two children, Doris Loraine Liner and Robert Lewis Clark. Pearl was a member of Canton Freewill Baptist Church and co-owner of Clark's Cleaners. She had a passion for quilting, enjoyed attending her church, and she also loved her garden. She is survived by a sister, Irene Martin, of Lumberton, Mississippi; granddaughters, Lucy Liner Akers, Tracey Liner Fornash, Nikki Liner Walker and Bobbie Liner Stamper; son-in-law, Bruce Liner and a special friend and caretaker, Susie E. Bell;and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Bird and Reverend Milton Hollifield officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will follow in The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.
