Waynesville, Pauline Wyatt Mathis, 89, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at her home.
A native of Swain County, Pauline was born on December 22, 1931. She lived in Haywood County for 77 years. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Alice Dehart Wyatt. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ralph Mathis who died in 2017; two brothers, Tommy Wyatt and Charles Wyatt; and sisters, Kathleen Rich and Betty Presnell.
Pauline was a faithful and lifelong member of Allen’s Creek Baptist Church. She retired from Wellco.
Pauline is survived by her son, Ronnie Mathis and his wife, Rhonda, of Waynesville; daughter, Kaye Daley and her husband, Bill, of Tucker, GA; sister, Mildred Burrell; sister-in-law, Ruth Wyatt; three grandchildren, Heather Cook, and her husband, Bronson, Ronald Mathis and Dixie Daley; and two great-grandchildren, Jaci and Kenzie Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Scotty Patrick officiating and music by Tim Moody. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pall bearers will be Ronald Mathis, Bronson Cook, Jeff Wyatt, Mike Rich, Steve Rich and Bruce Bowman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Allen’s Creek Baptist Church, 549 Allen’s Creek Rd., Waynesville, NC 28786.
