PAUL A. ''CHIEF'' SHEHAN
Waynesville-Paul A. ''Chief'' Shehan, age 81, of Fannie Mae Lane, died Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Rufus and Rachael Moody Shehan. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Underwood; three brothers, Ransom Moody Shehan, Richard Allen Shehan, and Robert Neal Shehan; and one sister, Edith Shields. He served in the Army and was a World War II veteran. He was employed by Dayco and was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marybee C. Underwood Shehan of Waynesville; two daughters, Joretta U. White and her husband, Ralph, of Candler, and Doris Wyatt and her husband, Leon, of Clyde; one son, Clifford Underwood and his wife, Yong, of Peoria, AZ; one sister, Sara ''Cricket'' Frady of Waynesville; one brother, Tom Shehan of Waynesville; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2002 at the Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes in Waynesville with the Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be at Fulbright Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Fulbright, ''Poss'' Wyatt, Blaine White, Brian White, Ricky Parham, and Danny Underwood. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at the funeral home. Military graveside rights will be conducted by the VFW post 5202 and American Legion post 47 of Waynesville.
