Paul Evans

Waynesville, Paul Martin Evans, age 66, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Arthur Paul (A.P.) and Dorotha "Dot" Martin Evans. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. He retired from Lowe's as a forklift operator and later at Haywood Builders Supply. Paul enjoyed going to the beach with his family and watching baseball games of the Asheville Tourist and Atlanta Braves. He was a devoted grandfather to Liam, and he never met a stranger.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Stamey, and her husband, Billy, of Clyde; sister, Dr. Ila Baugham, and her husband, Dr. Leonard Baugham, of N. Wilkesboro; grandson, Liam Stamey; niece, Leigh Baugham; and a nephew, Andy Baugham; and several lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 on Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Baugham, Cody Moore, Billy Stamey, Blake Woody, Jason Hyatt, Brian Davis and Keith Green; honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Moore, Frank Byrd, Dean Moore, Steve Moore, Leo Baugham, Roy Rogers and Joe Rathbone.
