Paul Doying

Paul Moore Doying, 74, of Haywood County passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Spruce Pine. A native of Gainesville, Fl, he was the son of the late William Wallace and Carolyn Moore Doying. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Tina Doying in 2011.

Paul proudly served in the US Army as Sergeant during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he had a career as a Medic with the Department of Corrections. Paul was best known for his sense of humor and the way he told “dad jokes”.  He loved to reel you in to the punchline.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher Doying and his wife, Beth of Maggie Valley and Paul Michael Lee and his fiancé, Regan of Canton; daughters, Paula Lee of Canton and Kimberly Atwell of Middleburg, FL; sister, Barbara Riley of Jacksonville, FL; brother, David Doying of Jacksonville, FL and three grandchildren, Ava and Lily Atwell and Charlotte Lee.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Reverend Patrick Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.

The care of Mr. Doying has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
